Three Generations of Perfumery: The People Behind Our Creations
The story of Qasr-E-Musk Perfumers began with Muhammad Jalil Sheikh, son of Muhammad Ismail, who migrated from Delhi to Karachi in 1947.
In 1949, he established a business dealing in agarbatti (incense sticks), aromatic oils, and perfume oils, laying the foundation for our family's fragrance heritage.
His son, Muhammad Naeem, continued the family business, carrying forward the knowledge and experience inherited from his father.
In 2002, Qasr-E-Musk Perfumers was established under its dedicated brand name, marking a new chapter in the family's journey.
Muhammad Naeem — The Creator of Our Early Signature Fragrances
Between 2002 and 2008, Muhammad Naeem developed several original fragrances that became important creations within our collection.
Among his best-known creations are Worship, Agha, Online, Flash, Obey, and Ghalib.
These fragrances were shaped by his experience, experimentation, understanding of aromatic materials, and knowledge of Pakistan's fragrance preferences.
His approach helped establish an important principle within the family:
A perfume house should not only offer fragrances inspired by others. It should have the creativity and expertise to develop fragrances of its own.
Muhammad Ali — Continuing the Art of Original Creation
After 2020, Muhammad Naeem's son, Muhammad Ali, took a leading role in developing many of the family's newer original compositions.
His creations include Elixir Black, Blue Musk, Be Bold, and Imperial.
Building on the experience passed down through generations, Muhammad Ali continues exploring distinctive fragrance concepts, developing formulas, and refining compositions.
The creative direction may evolve from one generation to the next, but the family's guiding philosophy remains unchanged.

2. Skin Testing
Next, we test the fragrance on skin.
Body warmth and individual skin chemistry can influence how aromatic materials evaporate and how a fragrance develops.
A composition that smells excellent on a blotter may behave differently when worn.
3. Clothing Performance
We also evaluate fragrances on fabric to understand their development and lasting performance on clothing.
Fragrance can behave differently on fabric than on skin, making this another valuable part of our testing process.
4. Controlled Environmental Testing
We then assess the fragrance under controlled conditions, reducing unnecessary environmental variation while evaluating consistency and performance.
5. Hot-Weather Testing for Pakistan's Climate
Pakistan's hot weather presents an important consideration during fragrance development.

Depending on its complexity, an original Qasr-E-Musk fragrance can take up to two years to develop and refine.

The challenge was achieving harmony between the juicy freshness, delicate aquatic notes, and warm woody-musky base.
Too much of one material could disturb the balance. Too little could leave the composition incomplete.
Through repeated trials, testing, and refinement, Worship gradually developed into the fragrance envisioned at the beginning of its journey.
